restaurant review: manhattan beach post

Manhattan Beach Post
Mr. Sazy Rock and I recently had dinner with a friend and business associate at MB Post to talk shop. I have eaten there a few times for brunch but never for dinner. So, I was pleased to finally try the evening fare.

The Scene

Despite dining on a rainy Tuesday night, the place was packed and buzzy. The tables were also close together so we could hear a lot of people's conversations.

Packed on a Tuesday night.

The Food

It's almost embarrassing to review what we ate because we ate a lot. Although, in our defense, we shared all the dishes. I suppose somebody had to gain the calories so you don't have to.
  •  Cabacero de Iberico de Bellota - Delicious cuts of meat.

Cabacero.

  • Shrimp Chips and Shrimp Ceviche - The chips had a perfect crunch and the coconut in the shrimp ceviche made it a very rich dish.

Shrimp Chips and Shrimp Ceviche.

  • Roasted Brussels Sprouts - I enjoy Brussels Sprouts and the the spices complimented their natural strong flavor. If I had one criticism, they were just a tad bit overdone.

Brussels Sprouts.

  • Loup de Mer - Fish had a nice crisp skin and flaked easily.

Loup de Mer.

  • Green Beans - The beans had a nice snap when I bit into them, and strong spicy flavors.

Green Beans.

  • Lamb Belly - Rich flavors and tender belly.

Lamb Belly.

  • Skirt Steak - High quality meat cooked perfectly medium rare.

Skirt Steak.

  • Chocolate and Salted Caramel Tart - Rich cholcate with a flaky and buttery crust.

Chocolate and Salted Caramel Tart.

  • Horchata Soft Serve with Churros - This was a hit. The horchata soft serve was light and so were the churros.

Horchata Soft Serve and Churros.

  • Chocolate Pudding with Peanut Butter Mousse - I actually preferred this perfect combination of chocolate and peanut butter over the tart.

Chocolate Pudding and Peanut Butter Mousse.

The Service

The staff - from the host to the servers to the bussers - were friendly and efficient. In fact, when I had to reschedule our reservation because we were running late, the host accommodated our crazy schedule three times. They also passed Mr. SR's Napkin Test

The Price

I did not see the bill so I don't know how much we paid and whether we received any complimentary dishes. But, below is a picture of the menu.

The Menu,

The Verdict

I really enjoyed MB Post and can't recommend it enough -- for both brunch and dinner. I was able to book a table (albeit at 8:45 pm) within a week of dining via opentable.com, or you may call them at (310) 545-5405.

If you have dined at MB Post, please share your dining experience below.
