my experience flying from burbank to las vegas on a private jet with jetsuitex!

Ah... so this is how the rich fly...

A few months ago a Travelzoo email landed in my inbox with what seemed like an amazing deal - fly on a private jet to Las Vegas at the same price as a roundtrip economy ticket!  So spurred by my love of a bargain, I booked 2 roundtrip tickets for my husband and me for an impromptu trip to Vegas.  The total was less than $400 for both of us.  So how was the experience?

Pretty freakin awesome.

First of all, you only have to arrive 30 minutes before the departure time.  At first, I was concerned about this so I called ahead, and the customer service representative assured me that was not a typo.  Each plane has less than 30 passengers so checking in is very eash and quick.

On the day of departure my husband and I took an uber to Hanger #2 at the Burbank airport.  We walked into the hanger up to a makeshift counter, checked in with our drivers licenses, and handed over our check-in luggage, which they whisked onto the plane (after a quick swab test).  Each passenger is allowed to check in 2 pieces of luggage (max total weight of 60 pounds) and bring a small bag/backpack onto the plane.  There aren't any overhead space so the small bag/backpack has to be able to fit under the seat in front of you.  We didn't seem to go through any further security checks so it seems as if you can bring liquids in your small carry-on item.

After checking in - which took about 3 minutes - we were invited to  sit in a small lounge area with complimentary teas, coffees, sodas and snacks.

Shortly thereafter we were asked to board with our paper boarding passes.  We climbed the small ladder and entered the plane.  There were only a few rows with 3 seats in each row - 2 together and 1 single.  The seats are comfortable with plenty of leg room - perfect for my husband who is 6 feet tall.

Once everyone was seated (which was super quick since there aren't that many people), the flight attendant quickly gave the standard safety speech and then took our drink orders.  There's a long list of choices including juices, beers, cocktails and wines.  They also served some healthy but tasty snacks - really loved the Veggie Chips!

Once we were in cruising speed, we were able to use the complimentary WiFi to access the entertainment site, which had a decent array of movies and TV shoes.

From Burbank to Las Vegas it's a pretty short flight (a little over an hour) so by the time I was sipping on my drink and starting the movie, we were pretty much ready to land.  Such a quick and easy trip!

When we landed in a private hangar area in Las Vegas, they called us a taxi.  It seems closer to the strip than the normal airport, so it was probably only a 10 minute ride to our hotel.

On our return trip, there was a slight hiccup in that they neglected to tell the passengers that the departure address had changed.  Luckily our taxi driver was able to figure it out and get us to their offices for check-in.  But from there, they basically had to shuttle us back to the original departure address which was a tad annoying.

Regardless, the service was outstanding and the convenience cannot be beat.

Would I do it again?  Sure - if the price were right.  I'd certainly be willing to pay more for the time savings and the comfort, especially for a special trip (e.g., birthday weekend, bachelorette, etc.).  But if it's more than double a standard flight, I'm not sure it would be worth it to me for a run of the mill trip.

But yes, for a moment I felt like a rock star.  No wonder celebrities look so refreshed when they get off the plane...

  1. What a fun idea to do for a special occasion! And it looks a lot more enjoyable than a typical flight on a crowded plane. Thanks for the post!
