(Berlin, Germany). The Reichstag is a historical parliamentary building with a 360 degree view of Berlin. While I normally don't feel compelled to visit every famous tower when I travel and pay exorbitant fees to see a view (e.g., Eiffel Tower, Taipei 101, Tokyo Skytree, etc.), I actually enjoyed coming here.
Why?
First of all - it's FREE! To avoid the lines, you simply have to go onto their website and make an appointment in advance. It was a simple process - you simply indicate the names of your party and the time you wish to visit, and you'll get an email confirmation.
Second - the views were amazing! Since I wasn't really familiar with Berlin at all, it was interesting to see the city laid out in front and all around you and try to imagine where it was divided.
Third - the architecture of the glass dome was quite striking. I'm no architecture buff, but it was visually stunning.
Fourth - it's a quick stroll through a lovely park to the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column.
When we were there, we saw street performers in the park and an orchestra rehearsing in front of Brandenburg Gate. It was flanked by high-end shops, restaurants and cafes and would have been a great spot to people-watch and relax.
