views from the yangon circular train (video)

If you have a few hours to spare and see the area around Yangon, I suggest a trip on the Circular Train.

Below is a short video of the views from my seat:

To take the train, keep in mind the following:

Catch the train from the Central Railway Station, a beautiful but unkempt colonial building. It has two entrances. Take the entrance on the left hand side. Go towards back of building on the left hand side for stairs leading to the platforms. Go all the way to the end at Platform 7. In the middle of the platform is a ticket booth. For foreigners, go inside the kiosk to buy a ticket. The employees speak some English. For an air conditioned train, as of November 2015, I paid 300 kyat ($ .23). Ask for direction on where exactly which train to board.

Keep the ticket because a conductor will mark it. I thought that the air conditioned train was still hot because it was actually powered by electric fans. From watching other trains, the non air conditioned trains only had windows open. "A/C" trains still had locals and were not so crowded.
